Mathare United and Vihiga United will each be looking for the first second leg win when they face off at Camp Toyoyo Grounds on Saturday. Mathare has registered two draws in its last two matches while Vihiga has lost both second leg matches.
Mathare head into the game as favorites considering they will have some of their key players and coach Francis Kimanzi back after returning from India. There is however growing disquiet in the team, the players have reportedly not been paid for three months.
Key players
Mathare United strikers Cliff Nyakeya and Clifford Alwanga have proved to be key for the team. Alwanga has scored 1o goals while Nyakeya has 11 and they will be crucial against Vihiga United. Francis Omondi and Crispin Oduor are also key players for the team in midfield. Both have scored three goals. On Vihiga United’s side, with lead striker Andrew Murunga injured, Chris Masiza and new signings Philip Muchuma and Morven Otinya will have to step and lead the team.
Team news
Key midfielder and Mathare assistant captain Crispin Oduor is back in the team after India trip and is expected to start the game. Defender Johnston Omurwa who was also away with the national team Harambee Stars has returned and will also feature. Francis Omondi another key player for Mathare returns after a one match suspension. Vihiga will welcome Captain Bernard Ochieng back to the team after returning from India. Top striker Andrew Murunga will miss the match after picking a knee injury in training. Midfielder Vincent Wonder is suspended.
Distance/pitch
Camp Toyoyo is located approximately 350 kilometers from Vihiga base and around 10 Kilometers from where Mathare United train. It is an artificial pitch and currently in good shape.
Style of play
Both teams love to attack. They also play quick passing football.
