The British number three is trying to progress in the world’s top 100 for as soon as possible, and the win over Sergiy Stakhovsky has taken him a step closer to that goal.

He currently is number 111. After a convincing win over the Ukrainian he managed to reach the main draw at a Masters Series event for the first time in his career.

In the first round Norrie will have to deal with his fellow qualifier Taro Daniel, where the prize will be a meeting with former world number one Novak Djokovic.

The current British number one, Kyle Edmund, couldn’t be present since he has to face either Denis Istomin or Peter Gojowczyk later this week.
