Arsenal Decline Balogun Bid While Turner’s Move to Forest Draws Near, Sources Say

Arsenal Snubs Monaco’s Initial Bid for Balogun, while US International Matt Turner Nears Nottingham Forest Move, Sources Confirm

Arsenal decline Balogun Bid as an initial proposal from Monaco for the striker, while concurrently reaching an agreement that paves the way for fellow United States international Matt Turner to join Nottingham Forest, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The Premier League outfit places a valuation of approximately €58 million ($64 million) on Balogun and is reportedly receptive to his departure at a suitable valuation. Rumors suggest that Inter Milan could also potentially join the race for his coveted signature.

With two years left on his Arsenal contract, Balogun leans toward a permanent transfer due to anticipated limited first-team prospects at Emirates Stadium. Even with Gabriel Jesus sidelined by a knee injury for the initial weeks of the season, Balogun’s preference for consistent playing time fuels his desire for a new opportunity.

Absent from the matchday squad during Sunday’s Community Shield victory over Manchester City at Wembley, 22-year-old Balogun remains sidelined due to a foot issue.

Balogun made a strong impression during his loan stint with Ligue 1 outfit Reims in the previous season, netting an impressive 21 goals in 34 starts. Despite his notable performance, he currently finds himself behind newly acquired talent Kai Havertz and Eddie Nketiah in the hierarchy for leading Arsenal’s forward line.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Turner is poised to exit Arsenal, having featured in a mere seven matches for the club since his £5.75 million move from New England Revolution last summer. The 29-year-old is set to make a move to Nottingham Forest for an initial sum of £7 million, which has the potential to increase to £10 million inclusive of add-ons. This transition opens up space in the squad, potentially paving the way for the potential arrival of David Raya from Brentford.

While negotiations for Raya’s acquisition continue, the two clubs are yet to settle on a fee. Arsenal remains optimistic about securing an agreement below Brentford’s £40 million valuation, with ongoing discussions anticipated throughout the week.

In the potential scenario of Raya’s arrival, he would likely engage in a battle for the No. 1 goalkeeping position with Aaron Ramsdale. Ramsdale demonstrated his skill by saving from Rodri during a penalty shootout, leading Arsenal to a 4-1 victory over City following a 1-1 draw.
