The Italian defender was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday morning, ahead of the match between Fiorentina and Udinese

He was brought to Florence on Wednesday. The funeral took place in the Basilica di Santa Croce.

Federico Bernardeschi, Alessandro Florenzi, Javier Zanetti and Filippo Inzaghi were among those present.

Mohamed Salah, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and skipper Gianluigi Buffon were also in attendance.

All the Serie A mathces were postponed while Fiorentina and Cagliari have retired the shirt with the number 13.
