The first games of the first round of the US Open’s Grand Slam for men in tennis did not give any surprises, as all the “big” tennis players who came down the field in New York cement fields won.

Spaniard Rafael Nadal, number 1 in the world, easily qualified further after retrieving his patriot David Ferrer among the second set (6-3, 3-4). Nadal won the first set, but in the second Ferrer had physical problems and decided to retreat.

A ticket for the second round was provided by Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro, winner of this 9th tournament, who in the first round easily beat 3-0 (6-0, 6-3, 6-4) American Donald Young. Somehow wins, but in the end it also gains Britain’s Andy Murray, the world’s number one, returning to a grand slam after more than a year. He defeated 3-1 (5-7, 6-3, 7-5, 6-3) with an overthrow against Australian James Duckworth.

A well-deserved victory for a tough rival was also rewarded by Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, winner in New York two years ago, defeating Bulgarian 3-0 (6-3, 6-2, 7-5) Grigor Dimitrov. In the second round, Canadians Milos Raonic (also 3-1 against Carlos Berlocq), Austrian Dominic Thiem (3-0 against Mirza Basic) and Spaniard Fernando Verdasco (9) won 3-0 against Feliciano Lopez).
