Methods of qualifying for the Europa League

Under normal circumstances UEFA grants to different countries a certain number of spots based on their League position.

In addition if a club wins a Cup of its country it gains the right to participate either in the group stage or in the qualifying rounds of Europa League.

Note, if the winners of the Cup finish fifth or higher in their Championship, their spot in the Europa League group stage or qualifying rounds goes to the next-highest ranked team not qualified for UEFA competitions.

Following a UEFA Executive Committee decision in December 2014, as of the 2015/16 season, Fair Play no longer earns clubs a route into the Europa League.

Regardless of who wins the League, Champions League, Europa League, Cup, a country can only have seven clubs representing them across the two European competitions.
