From a corner kick in the 90-th minute Fernando Varela scored with a header, but close to the fatal line was another PAOK player, Mauricio, who did not touch the ball. Firstly the referee assigned a goal, but later it was ruled out for an offside.

The president of Paok Salonika, one of Greece’s richest men, entered the field accompanied by his bodyguards. Ivan Savvidis was carrying a gun and going towards the referee.

The game stopped and the crowd started to leave. Meanwhile, AEK players left the pitch concerned for their safety and did not return.

Both FIFA and UEFA condemned the incident but said that it was a duty of the Greek FA to take the disciplinary measures.

Without taking in consideration this match the ranking of the Greek Superleague sees AEK on top with 54 points followed by Olympiacos with 53 points and PAOK third with 49 points.
