Tottenham Hotspur Finalizes £34.5m Deal for Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg

Tottenham Hotspur Completes Double Signing: Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg and Forward Alejo Véliz from Rosario Central on Six-Year Contracts

Tottenham Hotspur has successfully secured the signatures of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg and forward Alejo Véliz from Rosario Central, both committing to six-year agreements.

The acquisition of left-footed center-back player effectively addresses the defensive reinforcement desired by Ange Postecoglou. The transfer fee for the Netherlands Under-21 international amounts to an initial €40 million (£34.5 million), with potential add-ons potentially elevating the total sum to approximately €50 million.

Tottenham deliberated between pursuing Micky van de Ven or Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, ultimately opting to proceed with the 22-year-old Van de Ven. His football journey commenced at Volendam before his move to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021.

Further, Tottenham maintains an interest in Clement Lenglet, a former loanee who returned to Barcelona in May, as well as Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo. The club is open to offers for center-backs Davinson Sánchez, Japhet Tanganga, and Joe Rodon.

Additionally, 19-year-old striker Alejo Véliz, who represented Argentina in the Under-20 World Cup and Under-20 South American Championship earlier this year, has also completed his move, contingent upon the receipt of international clearance and a work permit.

Tottenham’s comprehensive recruitment strategy reflects their commitment to bolstering both defensive and attacking fronts. The capture of Micky van de Ven, a left-footed center-back, aligns with the vision of Ange Postecoglou for a sturdier defense. Meanwhile, Alejo Véliz’s arrival offers a promising addition to the striking department, as the 19-year-old forward showcased his talent on the international stage with Argentina’s Under-20 team. With these signings, Tottenham aims to forge a well-rounded squad capable of meeting the challenges of the upcoming campaign.
