Manchester United has formalized the purchase of Diogo Dalot from FC Porto. The player has signed a five-year contract with an option for another year.
The 19-year-old Portuguese has emerged from Porto’s academy. He has debuted at the Primera Liga in Portugal earlier this year.
Jose Mourinho has said of him: “Diogo is a very talented young defender with all the qualities to become a big player in the future.
He has all the attributes of a wing defender: tactical intelligence and technical skills, combined with the mentality of the Porto academy that prepares players for the prudence they will need on a personal level.
“In his age group, he is the best wing defender in the world and we believe he has a bright future at United.
Meanwhile, Dalot said: “Joining Manchester United is an incredible opportunity for me. I grew up in Porto’s academy and I’m grateful for everything has done for me.
“But the opportunity to play in such a big club can not be denied. I’m looking forward to training under Jose Mourinho and to learn everything I can from a coach like him. “/Flashsport24
