Egypt’s Mohamed Salah was named the best footballer of the year in the Premier League by the Association of Professional Footballers in England.
The 25-year-old, who arrived in Liverpool last summer from Rome, scored 41 goals with “The Reds” in all competitions, resulting in a huge blow to German club Jurgen Klopp.
Salah is the second African footballer, after Riyadh Mahrez, who gets this award. Liverpool’s “Pharaoh” in the final voting phase has defeated the competition of other players like Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Harry Kane, and Marcus Rashford.
Salah is the favorite to win the “Golden Boot” in Europe as it heads the list of goalscorer in the top European championships with 31 goals, two more than his big rivals, Barcelona’s “star” Lionel Messi./Flashsport24
