Federer’s intentions for this tournament are to defend his 2017 crown.

Until at least the quarter finals it seems an easy draw for the Swiss player Roger Federer who will not have to face any top ten player.

The world number one has been drawn in the second round against one of Ryan Harrison and Federico Delbonis depending which of them will be the winner in the first round.

In the quarter finals Roger may have to deal with the number five Dominic Theim.

Also Hyeon Chung can be his opponent at the same stage.

The number 3, Gregor Dimitrov is in the same group with Nick kyrgios and Kevin Anderson and will have to deal with each other to get the chance to meet Roger in the semi finals.

In the other half of the draw is Marin Cilic and world No 4 Alexander Zverev.

Juan Martin del Porto, Lucas Rouille and Jack Sock are also on the opposite side.

The 36 year old returned to be in the top of the world rankings after his latest success. This gave him also another record on his shoulders. Roger Federer has now become the oldest male in the world to ever do so in the process.
